Like previous holidays, she ignored the gifts and just put the wrapping/container/tag in her mouth. She is getting better about not putting everything in her mouth but I guess old habits die hard. Her big milestone of the is she started clapping. We’ve been clapping at her for months but it took Kari taking her to a FSU basketball game to get it.

Finally, we introduced Makayla to chicken earlier this week and she loves it!

We finally had time to sit down and upload all of the photos from the past few weeks to the site. Since we try to keep the posts in chronological order, some of the new photos are actually in between older posts. Here’s a list of the new posts/photos:

We also apologize for the lack of text updates with those posts, everything is kind of a blur and it is hard to remember everything she’s accomplished. Makayla has been very busy. She really enjoys trying to get a hold of the dog’s toys or water bowl. Unfortunately Chili is still having some jealously issues but we’re trying to work things through with her. In addition to waving, Makayla has also starting pointing at objects and people. Language-wise she is babbling all over the place. She can now make “Ma”, “Da”, “Ne”, and “Ba” sounds. She can say “Mama” and “Dada” but she doesn’t have the context or association yet. She also starting saying “Uh oh” this week and we’re working with her to use the word in the proper context.

The big news is that she’s starting to stand on her own for a few seconds! Most of the time she doesn’t realize she isn’t holding on to anything. It won’t be long now…

Finally, we introduced Makayla to chicken earlier this week and she loves it!

This pictures from this post include our Christmas with Makayla, our Christmas with Kari’s parents, and a Christmas with Joshua’s brother’s family via UPS. Overall Makayla really enjoyed Christmas and she seems to enjoy playing with everything she received. And while she didn’t really get Santa Clause, she could tell that something different and special was going on…especially when a giant exersaucer appeared in the living room over night.

In addition to crawling all around the house, she’s figured out how to pull up from sitting to standing by using the coffee table. Now anything on our coffee table is fair game and usually ends up on the floor. She’s been trying to pull the same maneuver with our TV stand and end tables but they are a bit too high for her right now. She’s also been taking more spills and tumbles but we’ve noticed that as time goes on she’s falling more “gracefully”.

In terms of new foods, we’ve introduced peas and avocado.
